Two from two for Ireland U19 with big win over USA

Ireland U19s made it two wins from two at the ICC U19 World Cup Qualifier in Malaysia with a convincing 8 wickets win over USA.
After a brilliant bowling display saw the USA dismissed for 100, Ireland captain Jack Tector led the way with the bat with 60 from 54 balls including 7 boundaries, as he combined well with opening partner Sonny Cott for a stand 75 to put the result beyond doubt.

It only took the Ireland batsmen 15.4 overs to reach their target, with Gary McClintock (9*) sealing the victory with a maximum.

Earlier, Aaron Gillespie finished with the impressive figures of 3/18 from his six overs. Rory Anders once again impressed with the new ball for Ireland, picking up 2/19 from his seven overs, while there was also two wickets for his Phoenix team mate Ben White (2/16). There was a wicket apiece for Gary McClintock (1-10), Josh Little (1-12) and Tom Stanton (1-24).

Today’s win puts Ireland in second place on the table, just behind Nepal on net run rate.

Ireland are in action again tomorrow when they take on Uganda, who hand also had a big win today beating Papua New Guinea by 9 wickets.
