Roly Black becomes first Irish umpire to stand at a T20 World Cup


A fine performance from Waringston all-rounder led the Shapoorji Pollonji Academy to victory over Cambridge University at Phoenic Cricket Club.
Morgan Topping scored a half century and took three wickets as the Shapoorji Pallonji Cricket Ireland Academy beat Cambridge University by 28 runs in a hard-fought encounter at Phoenix Park.
The Waringstown all-rounder struck seven boundaries as he top scored with 66 from 109 balls to help the Academy post 233 for 8.
He shared a third wicket stand of 70 with Balbriggan’s Conor Fletcher who hit a fluent 63 from 64 balls (9 fours).
The Academy finished strongly adding 80 in the last ten overs, with breezy cameos from Fiachra Tucker (25*), Neil Rock (23) and Josh Little (21).
Cambridge were soon in trouble despite a half-century from opener Tom Colverd (51).
Topping (3-39), JJ Garth (2-31) and Ian Anders (2-35) reduced the students to 130 for 7, but they recovered thanks to an 8th wicket stand of 60 between Patrick Tice (49*) and Nick Winder (24).
The Irish youngsters held their nerve to clinch an impressive 25-run win with Josh Little (1-1), Varun Chopra (1-33) and Cian Nulty (1-33) the other wicket takers.
