A star studded Sri Lankan squad has been announced to travel to Dublin for the RSA Insurance ODI Series at Clontarf Cricket Club.

Sri Lanka will play Ireland in two One Day Internationals at Clontarf on the 6th and 8th of May before traveling to England for five ODIs, one Twenty20 match and two Tests against England.

Sri Lanka have named one large squad rather than distinct squads for each leg of their tour of Ireland and England with a 26 man panel that will be captained by Angelo Matthews in the One Day International format.

Although Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are retiring from the T20 format at the end of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 and Tillakaratne Dilshan has already called time on his Test career, all three of Sri Lanka’s star batsmen are included in the squad that will be building up towards the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The spin department looks particularly strong for Sri Lanka with Ajantha Mendis, Rangana Herath and Sachithra Senanayake all named in the panel, whilst cricket fans will be excited to also see fast-bowler Lasith Malinga named in the squad.

Ticket sales for the matches have been very strong with initial numbers outstripping those for last year’s RSA Insurance ODI Series against Pakistan at the same venue. The Early Bird Ticket offering from Cricket Ireland has proven very successful again, and fans still have until the 31st of March to avail of the 20% discount across all tickets for the two matches.

There are also discounts for a bundled two-match package, with an adult being able to see both games for a great value €35, Under 16’s just €12, and a family package (two adults, two kids) being priced at only €89.
