Ireland Coach Phil Simmons will leave Ireland’s tour of Australia and New Zealand on Wednesday and then return to his native Trinidad to be with his ill mother.
Simmons will leave the Ireland camp in Christchurch on Wednesday, with assistant coach Peter Johnston overseeing the side for Ireland’s remaining fixture against Otago on Thursday.
