Round Two of the RSA National Cup gets under way today and the competition looks like it is going from strength to strength.
The first round was badly hit by rain and more than half of the fixtures were decided on a bowlout. Muckamore are the team to beat as last year’s champions and current leaders of the Ulster Bank League Section 1 having won four from four so far. They face the top team on show from Leinster, Malahide, who are fourth in the RSA Leinster League Division 2 with three wins from four.

Rush, who are just behind Malahide despite only having won one match out of four, are strong favourites as they welcome Civil Service Dublin who are in Leinster’s fourth division. St Johnston are top of the Long’s Supervalu Championship with a perfect record after three matches; they face Cliftonville who are bottom of the Ulster Bank League Section 1.

Leinster’s Dundrum face a tough task to make it into the third round as they welcome Dundrum from the NCU. The Leinster team are third from bottom of Division 4 while the NCU team are sixth in the Ulster Bank League Section 1.

County Galway beat County Clare to earn their spot in the second round, and to make it to the third they will have to get past Ballaghdeereen from Roscommon. They beat Midleton by five wickets in one of the other matches that was played in the first round.

NUI Galway welcome Derriaghy who are third from bottom in the Ulster Bank League Section 1 having won just one match from four so far this season. Killyclooney, who beat Laois by seven wickets in the first round, have a tough task to make it to round three. They are last without a win in the Long’s Supervalu Championship while their opponents, Laurevale, are fifth in the Ulster Bank League Section 1.

County Kerry will hope their trip to Mullingar is worth it with the carrot of a round three berth up for grabs. They beat County Sligo in a bowlout in round one, so will be looking forward to taking on Mullingar who are fourth in Leinster’s fourth Division.
