Roy Silva blasts 295* for Glendermott – Draw for Semi-Final of the O’Neills Ulster Shield

Glendermott’s Roy Silva tore up the record books on Sunday as he blasted his way to an incredible 295 not out for his side against Cliftonville in the O’Neills Ulster Shield.
What made Silva’s knock all the more remarkable was that his 295 runs came of just 91 balls and included no less that 34 sixes, including six in one over, and 11 fours, as his side finished on an imposing 462-4 off their 40 overs. Silva brought up his ton in 41 balls, which was comparatively pedestrian to his second which took just 27. Silva’s score is the highest individual score in Irish cricket for more that 120 years and the record for most maximums in a single innings.

In reply Clitonville’s Avo Dandekar was also in the runs, but his 149 was not enough to stave off a 238 run defeat as they finished on 224-8 off their 40 overs.

In the round’s other matches, Carrickfergus recorded a big win away at Killyclooney as a 70 from Mark Gilmour and 52 from Ryan Eagleson helping the visitors to 236-6. The total proved too much for the Ballymagorry side as they were bowled out for 109.

Downpatrick had a comfortable 6 wicket win at home to Bonds Glen, while Holywood beat Burndennett by 29 runs.
