Ireland Women beaten but still on track at T20 World Cup Qualifier

Rebecca Rolfe has been called up to the Ireland Women squad for their ICC World Twenty20 finals next month in Bangladesh.
The 27 year-old Leinster batter is included following a decision by the ICC to increase the official playing squad for the ICC World Twenty20 2014 from 14 to 15. This was in recognition of the fact that the format for this edition of the event is longer than previously was the case.
Cricket Ireland National Women’s Coach Trent Johnston said: “It’s fantastic news for Rebecca who was unlucky to just miss out in the original selection. She’s worked very hard on her game and it’s a just reward for all her efforts.
“It’s a very welcome move by ICC to include an extra player, and it gives the squad extra depth in the event of injury or illness.”
Leinster skipper Rolfe has made ten international appearances for Ireland, playing in 8 ODI’s and 2 T20I’s.
This will be Ireland’s first appearance at an ICC World Twenty20 tournament. They have been drawn in the same group as defending champions Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan.
