After a successful season that included winning all ICC European titles, Cricket Ireland is pleased to announce the 2014-15 boy’s national youth coaching teams.
Overseen by Shapoorji Pallonji Cricket Ireland Academy manager Craig Hogan, the new appointments come after a number of well qualified coaches expressed an interest in being part of the national youth set-up.
“We are very fortunate to have dedicated and hard working teams of coaches across the pathway and are extremely pleased to welcome the new coaches to the National youth programme. Their experience, quality and fresh approach will continue to challenge our best young players and support the good work being done at regional level”
Each National youth squad from under 13’s to the under 19’s will have a Head Coach and two Assistant Coaches, with one also acting as Team Manager. Stephen Moreton (spin bowling/coach mentoring) and Tim Simmonite (tactical differentiation) will also be available to add support to the programme.
Toyota Coach of the Year award winner Simon Johnston continues his role as Head Coach of the under 15 national squad, and will be supported by Brian Allen as team manager and Matt Lunson as assistant coach.
Shane Getkate and Fintan McAllister, both included in Ireland’s senior winter training squad, take up roles with the under 13’s and 17’s respectively. Getkate joins Michael Hingston and James Colhoun with the under 13’s, while McAllister will be teaming up with Nigel Jones and Niall McDonnell in the under 17’s.
Rounding off the appointments, Head Coach Ryan Eagleson will be supported by Ted Williamson and Ian McGregor in the under 19 age group.
Craig Hogan will be working closely with all National youth squads, in particular the 19’s as they prepare for the U/19 World Cup qualifiers in Jersey in July 2015.
