Kenny Carroll makes his first appearance in a Leinster Lightning three-day squad, as they look to retain their Newstalk Inter-Provincial Championship title when they meet Northern Knights at Waringstown tomorrow.
Carroll, who was a regular feature in the Lightning’s T20 side during the season, comes in as a late replacement for Clontarf’s Bill Coughlan who has been ruled out of the match. The Railway Union batsman has been in excellent club form of late, and has a wealth of domestic and international experience behind him and will fit right in at the top of the order.
The squad also sees the inclusion of a fully fit again vice-captain John Anderson, but Railway’s Pat Collins misses out after fracturing two toes while in club action last weekend.
This is the Lightning’s final Championship game of the season, and six points here will be enough to land them the title.
But trying to make sure that doesn’t happen will be Andrew White’s Northern Knights, who currently sit in second place – 43 points adrift but with a game in hand.
The Knights’ selectors have rung the changes with three new faces in the squad of 13. Robert McKinley, Neill Gill and Stephen Bunting all come into the side with Mark Adair, Philip Eaglestone and Allen Coulter all on the injury list, while Nigel Jones and Shance Getkate are unavailable.
Play gets underway at The Lawn, Waringstown at 11am each day, admission is free.
