The Under 15 Inter-Provincial Series ended today with Leinster and the NCU getting wins on the final day, meaning Leinster win the overall title.
In the final matches of the series Leinster scored a mammoth 344 to defeat the North-West, whilst the NCU defeated the Southern XI at North County.
Leinster batted first on a hot day and scored a mammoth 344-7 from their 50 overs, Andrew Vincent top scoring with 95 with strong support from Harry Archer (63), Eoin Barron (43) and Rory McGovern (42).
In reply the North-West lost two early wickets before a positive third wicket stand between Varun Chopra (43) and Marcus Poskitt (33) gave hope to the chasing side before wickets started to fall regularly ending the game as a contest.
The NCU ensured the Southern XI did not get a consolation win when they won by six wickets at North County.
The Southern XI had won the toss and elected to bat first, reaching 149-2 before collapsing to 201 all out after Sanil Gupta (46) and Neil Rock (65) had put their team in a good position to make a big total.
In reply the NCU found themselves 53-2, but an excellent 98 from Jamie Glass as part of a huge third wicket partnership of 127 between Glass and Carson (36) saw them reach their target of 202 with relative ease.
It could have been much sweeter for Glass, but with the NCU requiring just one run to win he was caught at mid-off trying to finish the game and reach his hundred at the same time.
Under 13’s Iner-Pro’s
In the Under 13’s competition, the NCU made it two wins in the day despite being restriced to 149 all out (Johnston 46, Metcalfe 44) after being asked to bat first.
The NWCU also struggled with the bat and an excellent bowling performance under pressure saw them bowled out for 104 giving the NCU a 45-run victory.
In the second Under 13’s game of the day Munster faced Leinster, with the former batting first and failing to bat the full allocation of overs, finishing 128 all out with Tom Mahon (31) and Cian Egerton (29) the only payers to make double figures for Munster.
In reply Leinster looked far more comfortable with the bat with Mitchell Thompson (60) racing to his half century in just 40 balls as Leinster reached their target in just 17.4 overs and with nine wickets to spare.
