Leinster Lightning as expected completed a comprehensive innings win against the Northern Knights on the third day of their RSA Inter-Provincial clash at College Park.
Steady rain meant no play was possible in the morning session, and at times there were genuine fears that the weather could deny Leinster for a second time in the Championship – which would have been ironic for a team named Lightning!
Play got under way at 1:30pm and Zac Rushe (37) and Phil Eaglestone (18*) held up Leinster for 30 minutes and 8 overs before Rushe’s patience finally snapped, lofting John Mooney (2-35) to a grateful Alex Cusack at mid-on.
The next action in the Series is the Cup game at Comber between Northern Knights and North West Warriors on July 15, while a change to the schedule sees all three teams play in the RSA T20 Trophy the following day at the same venue.
Before then of course Ireland are in action taking on The Netherlands in the InterContinental Cup at Deventer (July 1-4) before the crucial two World Cup Qualifiers in Amsterdam (July 7 and 9).
