Leinster claimed the 2014 Under-13 Inter-Provincial title on a dramatic final day in Dublin which saw three sides finish level on points.
At Balbriggan, an impressive bowling display from North West captain Kyle Magee which saw him take 4 Munster wickets for just 13 runs as they bowled out the Southern side for 115 in just under 29 overs. His opposite number Kieran O’Reilly top scored for Munster with 50 from 48 balls, including 8 boundaries, while Sufyan Khan chipped in with 20.

Having been reduced to 35-3 in reply thanks to two wickets from Aaron Cawley and one from Aidan Leonard, Magee (19) and Marcus Poskitt (44) combined to put the North West in the driving seat and when Magee departed Jacob Logan-Wilson (20*) together with Poskitt saw them home in the 26th over.

Action from the Under-13 Inter-Pros at Rathmines yesterday

Over in Ringcommons, batting first the NCU posted an impressive 224-8 in their innings, reduced to 38 overs due the inclement weather around north Dublin. A fine innings of 75 from opening batsman Max Burton laid the perfect foundation for the northerners, before Archie Johnston (20) and James Humphreys (21) continued their fine form from yesterday and Jack Carson finished unbeaten on 47.

Despite losing two early wickets including danger-man Stuart Jackson to a great catch by Johnston off the bowling of Hunter, Leinster raced to 50 from 9 overs in reply which turned into 115-2 after 25 overs before the heavens opened. With play unable to resume before the cut-off time, the NCU were deemed winners of the match on net run-rate.

A testament to how close fought the tournament was, Leinster, North West and the NCU all finished level on points with two wins apiece. However after the calculators came out it was Leinster who emerged on top, taking the 2014 title on over-all net run-rate.
