Cricket Ireland has confirmed that the Australian-born Jacob Mulder has been released from his central contract by mutual consent, in order to pursue other opportunities back in his homeland.
The 23-year old, who was born in Perth, Western Australia, made his international debut for Ireland in 2016 and appeared 14 times for the national side. His last match was against Netherlands in August 2017. The legspinner claimed 22 international wickets at an average of 23.86, with best bowling performance of 4-16 against Scotland in the semi-final of the Desert T20 Challenge at Dubai in 2017.

Richard Holdsworth, Performance Director at Cricket Ireland, said:

“Jacob has a skill set and talent which is greatly needed in the Ireland set up. The decision to amicably end Jacob’s contract early allows him to move back to Australia for the remainder of the winter. The door is still open for him to regain a contract in the future, but in the meantime we wish Jacob well for his immediate future, and hope that we see him back pushing for a place in the Northern Knights next season.”
