Two of the Senior Cup ties will be all Leinster affairs, as Malahide take on Pembroke and North County host Merrion. Of the two ties there will be a special interest taken in the Malahide – Pembroke match after the two sides faced off in the league last week.

In the end Malahide took a dramatic victory scoring three from the last ball to win thanks to Lightning star Fintan McAllister, but even with revenge as motivation Pembroke will find it tough to beat the village side, with another close encounter likely.

Tyrone Kane will return to action for Merrion after his outstanding debut for Ireland in Bready last week, but he will be up against the in for Eddie Richardson and Brenton Parchment who both made centuries in the previous round, Richardson adding six wickets in the same match.

For the two NCU sides remaining in the competition a road trip to Dublin awaits with Waringstown traveling to Clontarf and CSNI making the journey to Rathmines to face Leinster.

Clontarf and Waringstown had differing journeys to the quarter finals, with Clontarf pushed all the way by Strabane in the previous round, whilst Waringstown eased past County Galway. While Clontarf would be considered favourites with home advantage, it would not be a huge surprise should Waringstown come away with the win.

In the last quarter final CSNI will travel to Leinster full of hope after the Dublin side needed a six from the final ball to beat Muckamore in the second round. The Leinster Division 2 side would probably have been the most favoured of the Leinster sides in the draw, but they will be no roll over CSNI will have to be at their best to get a win in Rathmines.

The National Cup has also reached the quarter final stage, with a much smaller presence from the LCU.

Ballaghaderreen are perhaps the surprise package in the quarter finals, with the County Roscommon side beating Bangor to earn a home tie against Dundrum (LCU) in the quarter finals, giving the side an excellent opportunity to use home advantage to earn Connacht a semi-final place.

Two representatives from the North-West will host sides traveling from the far side of Leinster, with the ever strengthening Greystones travelling to Newbuildings and Laois making the long trip to Drummond.

In the final tie of the round Derriaghy will travel down from the NCU to face Rush in North County Dublin as they look to maintain the NCU’s presence in the competition.

Ties will be taking place this Sunday (June 28th) with a reserve / replay date set of July 5th should no result be possible this weekend.
