Ava Canning forced to withdraw from Ireland Women’s squad

The Ireland Under 19s beat the Irish Schools today by 48 runs in a low scoring match played at Osborne Park.
Winning the toss, the Ireland Under 19s elected to bat. Alistair Shields top-scored with 50 before he became Benn Hoey’s first victim of three. James McCollum was next highest scorer with 20 while Tyrone Kane (19) and Scott Campbell (15) also contributed.
Every bowler for Irish Schools took a wicket, but only Hoey and Rishi Chopra (9-2-23-2) took more than one. Ireland Under 19s were all out in the 43rd over for 154.
Wickets fell at regular intervals for Irish Schools whose chase never gathered any momentum. Jay Hunter (21) and Mark Adair (28) were the only batsmen to get past 20, while Rishi Chopra (19) and Benn Hoey (17) were next highest scorers.
The bowling of Robert McKinley (7-2-17-3), Tyrone Kane (7-0-31-2) and Scott Campbell (8-1-25-2) proved too incisive for the Schools team and they were bowled out for 106 on the last ball of the 35th over, 48 runs short of the target set by Ireland Under 19s.
