Close, but…
Ireland Women beaten but still on track at T20 World Cup Qualifier

Ireland U17 Women’s team made it four out of four victories against Scotland this morning when they defended a small total to win by 24 runs.
Una Raymond-Hoey’s team pulled off a tight win in the 40-over match on Monday (see the report here), and continued their winning ways yesterday when they won two Twenty20 matches.
Scotland batted first in both of yesterday’s fixtures. In the morning match the Scots scored a respectable 106-5. Two run-outs from Lucy O’Reilly didn’t help their cause, though, and Rachel Delany helped to keep the score down with her figures of 4-0-17-2.
Hannah Grieve top-scored with 22, but when Grieve was out the home team suffered a collapse, going from 72-4 to 75-7. Ruby Neville (15*) steadied the ship with Pia Diepman (10), however, and Ireland only lost one more wicket in the chase, passing the total at the end of the 19th over.
In the afternoon match, Ireland restricted Scotland to 93-7. Fiona Gill (4-1-21-2) and Anna Kerrison (3-1-9-2) were the standout bowlers for the girls in green, while Lucy O’Reilly (30), Pia Diepman (16) and Hannah Grieve (19) top-scored to ease the Irish to victory in the 15th over for six wickets.
Ireland batted first in the last match of the series and struggled to 90 all-out. Pia Diepman (30) and Robyn Lewis (19) gave their team a dream start, reaching 43 before losing their first wicket in the sixth over. After the opening pair, only Ruby Neville (11) made it into double figures and the team were dismissed for 90 in the 18th over.
Tight bowling was the order of the morning, however, captain Una Raymond-Hoey leading from the front in that respect with outstanding figures of 4-0-10-2 while Anna Kerrison and Robyn Lewis both also took two wickets apiece to help their team restrict the Scots to just 66-7 from their 20 overs.
