Ireland name Under 19 Team for opening match of 2012

Team of 12 named for the first match of a very busy calender in 2012 for the Irish Under 19’s
In less than three months, Ireland Under 19’s will be in Townsville, Australia starting their 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup campaign. Their season starts much closer to home however, in Waringstown, on the 1st June.
Ireland Under 19’s start out a very busy 2012 cricket calender with a match versus the Ulster Grasshoppers at Waringstown on Friday 1st June.

Both George Dockrell and Graeme McCarter will be missing the match as they are away with Somerset and Gloucestershire respectively, so Barry McCarthy will captain the side. McCarthy spoke to cricketireland.ie shortly after the team was announced and said ‘I’m delighted to have been named captain of the Irish Under 19’s for the match against the Ulster Grasshoppers. It came as a surprise to me but I feel that I can do a good job deputising as captain in George’s absence’

The match starts at 11.30am and the Ulster Grasshoppers will provide a stern test for Ireland’s youngsters with Ireland internationals Peter Shields and James Hall featuring alongside former Ireland Under 19 Lee Nelson.
