Selfless leg bye
Ireland Men make it 2-from-2 against Italy; Tector hits remarkable 96*

Ireland’s Under 17 cricketers secured a last gasp win against Scotland to clinch the European Challenge Series at Eglinton with just a ball to spare.
Chasing a Scottish total of 138 for 7, Ireland were in a dominant position at 106 for 1 after 14 overs thanks to fine innings by Sonny Cott (55), Lorcan Tucker (26), and William McClintock (20).
However leg-spinner Harris Aslam (3-19) induced panic in the Irish middle order, reducing them to 116 for 5 with just two overs remaining.
Irish skipper Jack Tector and Adam Dennison both struck vital sixes in the penultimate over to reduce the equation to 7 from the final over.
Dennison (13*) and Tector (12*) proved equal to the task as they found the gaps to seal the win with a ball to spare much to the delight of the assembled crowd at Eglinton.
Earlier Ben Wilkinson had top scored for Scotland making an entertaining 65 from 54 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes), as he shared an opening stand of 67 with Jack Waller (23).
Scotland lost their momentum in the middle overs, suffering three run outs, while Rory Anders (2-27), and Fiachra Tucker (1-20) the pick of the Irish attack.
It’s been a year to remember for Ireland at European level, with victories for both the 17’s and 19’s in the Challenge Series, and a successful tournament defence for the Under 15’s.
Ireland Women are in pole position to make it a clean sweep, as they head the table in the ongoing T20 competition which finishes on Sunday at Rugby.
