The International Cricket Council today announced the schedule for and the ICC Intercontinental Cup from 2015 to 2017.
The opening round of the ICC Intercontinental Cup will start in April and run until June with defending champion Ireland facing UAE at home.
The Intercontinental Cup is ICC’s four-day, first-class competition for the leading Associate and Affiliate Members (AMs). The event was first played in 2004, however, it now takes on much greater significance with the winner in 2017 challenging the 10th-ranked Full Member for the opportunity to play Test cricket.
Fixtures in ICC Intercontinental Cup are played over seven rounds on a home or away basis, however, in a change from previous events, round 7 (in late 2017) will this time be played simultaneously in a common venue that will be announced in due course.
