Ireland’s youth cricketers had a day to remember as the Under 17s recorded back-to-back T20 wins against Worcestershire while the 15s edged out traditional rivals Scotland by just four runs in a thrilling contest in Cork.
Kyle Magee top scored with 37, with Jack Carson (29) and Marcus Poskitt (28) chipping in as Ireland U15s scored 178 – two wickets apiece for Scottish spinners Peet (2-21) and Davidson (2-30).

In reply Seanan Jones (3-24) and Gavin Hoey (3-41) had Scotland in early trouble, before Ben Davidson (48) and yesterday’s centurion Darryl Sinclair (41) launched a fightback. The Irish however held their nerve to seal the win which levelled the series.

At Worcester, Josh Little showed his all-round quality to lead Ireland U17s to victory in the first T20 game of the day. The Pembroke teenager made an unbeaten 36, hitting the penultimate ball of the match to the boundary to seal a five wicket win.

Jamie Grassi (30), Graham Kennedy (28) and Andrew Vincent (20) were also among the runs as the Irish chased 140.

Runs were much tougher to come by in the second game of the day and the Irish were indebted to top scorer Andrew Vincent who made 32 in their total of 116 for 9 – Max Neville making a vital 16 at number 11.

Neville then took 4 for 13 as Worcester were restricted to 107 for 8 – Varun Chopra (2-21), Reece Kelly (1-16) and Aaron Cawley (1-20) the other wicket takers.

The sides meet again tomorrow in the final match of the series.
