Cricket Ireland’s Technical Committee has recently considered an appeal by Limerick CC over the result of their National Cup quarter-final match with Woodvale CC, played on Sunday 10th July. Woodvale CC were awarded the match when Limerick CC were unable to provide DLS sheets in a timely manner for the start of the second innings of the match.
In considering the appeal, the Technical Committee sought feedback from both teams and the standing umpires in the match. It was noted that whilst the match had not been reduced from its original 50 overs per side by the time of the interval, all available extra time had elapsed, and the umpires had allowed Limerick CC every opportunity to provide the necessary DLS sheets. In addition, the Technical Committee discovered that the version of software used by Limerick to print the sheets was incorrect, and that the current version of the software, issued to clubs in October 2014, was not being used in this case. The version used produced different par scores, and as such the club were in effect in breach of clause 12a of the administrative regulations.

Whilst the circumstances surrounding the end of the match were unfortunate, the Technical Committee rejected the appeal by Limerick CC and confirmed Woodvale CC as winners of the match, who progress to the semi-finals of the competition.
