Ireland Qualify for World Cup with Thailand win

Cricket Ireland launched its membership packages recently with a wide range of deals tailored to all cricket fans in Ireland. At the launch event in Malahide, Cricket Ireland TV caught up with fast bowler Craig Young.
Asked about why the launch was held in a local school rather than the The Village ground in Malahide, Young explained the significance.
“It’s working towards bringing more kids to the game as well with Cricket Ireland’s club initiative so it’s good to get down here and get in amongst the kids and start playing cricket.”
Development programmes like Malahide’s are helping bring the game to more children and its success was evident to Young.
“Everybody seemed so keen, it’s the first time I have seen such enthusiasm from a school, which is great to see and hopefully means we’re in the right direction.”
Local children in Malahide will have plenty of opportunity to see the stars of Irish and World cricket this year, with both Pakistan and Sri Lanka playing two match ODI series’ in the North Dublin village, with bumper crowds expected on all four days.
Young is all too aware of the importance of creating an atmosphere and attracting big crowds to matches i
“It’s great to have that support behind you, especially when you’re looking to make Malahide a fortress, and it definitely feels like a fortress now when we’re playing there.”
Tickets for all four matches in Malahide are available now, with Sri Lanka playing on June 16 and 18th, and Pakistan August 18 and 20th. Tickets are available for individual matches or for each series and can be purchased online here.
