Malahide hosted Clontarf and Rush hosted Terenure in the preliminary round of the RSA Irish Senior Cup yesterday
Malahide hosted Clontarf and Rush hosted Terenure in the preliminary round of the RSA Irish Senior Cup yesterday.
The two winners will qualify for the RSA Irish Senior Cup proper.
Clontarf recorded a resounding win over Balbriggan in the Leinster League on Saturday and they seemed to be in similar form the following day. Batting first, Clontarf made 232/7, Alex Cusack top scoring with 82, while Malahide could only post 112 in return. Clontarf now host Ballymena in the first round.
Rush faced Terenure in a much closer affair. The teams met in the League on Saturday, a match which Terenure won easily, but Rush were not to be rolled over twice in a weekend. Rush batted first, scoring 222/9 from their 50 overs with Eoghan Conway and Patrick Sheridan both scoring 40.
Terenure looked like they would canter to a win but found themselves in a spot of bother at 211/8. They ran out eventual winners by two wickets in the 48th over. Terenure now travel to Donemana in the first round of the RSA Irish Senior Cup.
