Ireland Qualify for World Cup with Thailand win

Barry McCarthy had the taste of success this week as his club Randwick Petersham won the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup, making them the Sydney Grade Cricket T20 Champions for the third time.
The original final was due to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground but rain curtailed finals day after the second semi-final, which Randwick won, and the match was rescheduled for this week in Coogee.
McCarthy played in the match, bowling two overs as Randwick successfully defended their score of 166-7, Sydney University falling 26 runs short despite 61 from another player familiar to Irish fans, Nick Larkin.
McCarthy is in Australia playing for Randwick Petersham as part of a Cricket Ireland overseas programme, and will play there for the duration of the winter. He has been writing a blog about his time in Australia and will give us another update before Christmas to let us know how he is getting on.
