Ireland Qualify for World Cup with Thailand win

Ireland Women’s T20 International Series against Australia will be live streamed on www.cricketireland.ie in HD with full commentary.
The matches all take place at Claremont Road, YMCA, with the first encounter taking place tomorrow, (WED) at 4.30pm. The second match is on Friday, also at 4.30pm, with the final game on Saturday at 12pm.
It’s a great opportunity for the Irish Women to take on the current T20 World Champions, and captain Isobel Joyce is relishing the occasion.
“We can’t wait for the series to start. We’ve been gearing our preparations all summer towards these games, and there’s a real buzz around the camp on the eve of the matches,” said Joyce.
The Irish captain missed most of the ECB Division One T20 campaign with a knee injury, but is now fully recovered.
“It was disappointing not to be able to play a full role in our T20 games, but the team did well in recent weeks with some fantastic results.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase Irish Women’s cricket with the news that the three games against the World Champions will be streamed live on the Cricket Ireland site and I’m sure we’ll also get a huge home support to encourage us at the matches.
Ireland were in action over the weekend with their final two games in the T20 competition, when a superb bowling display by teenager Lucy O’Reilly (4-8) helped them defeat joint leaders Yorkshire, before they slipped to a 24 runs defeat to Middlesex, despite 40 from Cecelia Joyce.
Ireland have named a full strength squad for the series with the Southern Stars, whom they last met in Bangladesh during the ICC World Twenty20, losing to an inspired display by Meg Lanning, who scored a magnificent century.
Australia have been in dominant form during their ongoing Ashes series against England, and are sure to prove a tough opponent this week for the young Ireland side.
The live streaming of these international fixtures has been made possible thanks to a grant for high definition cameras and live streaming technology through the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport Sports Capital Programme.
Entry is free to all the games.
