John Anderson has been named as the Leinster Lightning captain for the 2016 season following the retirement of John Mooney at the end of last season.
The Leinster Lightning are delighted to announce John Anderson as the captain for the 2016 season.

John is an experienced international who has served as vice-captain for the Lightning for the past few seasons. John has 25 Irish caps across all formats of the game and has been an ever present for the Lightning since the inception of the newly-launched Inter-Provincial programme in 2013.

John’s appointment will go some way to filling the large void left by retiring skipper John Mooney. All involved at the Lightning would like to thank ‘Mooners’ for all his hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and energy during his time as captain and also as a player and we wish him all the best with all his future endeavours.

Anderson will bring his vast captaincy experience to the Lightning, having captained Merrion Cricket Club for a number of seasons, most notably to All-Ireland success in 2010. All at the Lightning wish him the best of fortune in the role.

John’s captaincy debut will be against the Danish National team on the 23rd of April in The Hills Cricket Club.
