Cricket Ireland received correspondence from Fox Lodge as to the eligibility of Ben Speake (Co Galway) in last week’s first round match.
The Competition’s Event Technical Committee (ETC) have investigated the matter and accept that the Eligibilty Regulations, as they currently stand, are open to interpretation. The ETC also found that the regulations are intended to restrict any player within the Irish Senior Cup or National Trophy to playing for one club only in any season. The ETC have therefore decided that the result stands, and Co Galway will now play Waringstown CC in the second round of the Irish Senior Cup.

The ETC have also asked for the regulations of the ISC to be clarified with immediate effect, and these will be circulated to clubs as soon as possible.

In the interim all clubs still involved in the Irish Senior Cup and National Cup should note that no player can play for 2 different clubs in either of these Cricket Ireland competitions. Any club found to be in breach of this regulation will be expelled from the relevant competition.
