Three time Olympian Derval O’Rourke was a very special guest last night as she presented the Ireland Women’s World Twenty20 Squad with their jerseys ahead of their departure next week for their debut World T20 in Bangladesh.
O’Rourke is one of Ireland’s best known athletes and competes internationally in the 60 and 100 metres hurdles, she is a three time Olympian, winner of numerous international medals and is the Irish national record holder in both events.

Last night, she was the surprise guest at a dinner held for the Irish Women’s Squad ahead of their departure for Bangladesh from Dublin next Saturday.

Ireland Women’s Coach Trent Johnston said “I wanted to do something special for the ladies, this World Cup is special to them, they have worked hard and deserved a night like that with partners and family. To get a person of Derval’s stature to present them with their World Cup jerseys is an honour and a massive thanks to her.”

Ireland Women will arrive into Bangladesh on Sunday the 16th of March ahead of their first game of the tournament against New Zealand on the 25th of March in Sylhet.
