After the Irish Senior and Irish National Cups were completed last week, it was the turn of the top junior sides in the country this weekend as the Under 13 and Under 15 All-Ireland competitions came to an end.
Bready hosted Pembroke in the North-West in the Under 15 final, while Instonians travelled to Phoenix in the under 13’s.

At Phoenix, Instonians batted first scoring 148-5 in 24 overs, with James Hunter scoring a well-deserved half century and Oliver Metcalfe providing support with 35.

Despite scoring 148, Duckworth-Lewis meant that Phoenix would actually be chasing a target of 153 to win after some over had been lost, but the five extra runs never came into play as Phoenix were restricted to just 102-7 after some excellent bowling from Instonians, who ran out winners by 51 runs.

In the Under 15 final, Pembroke showed no signs of tiredness after their long journey to Bready, with Sanil Gupta carrying his bat to score a brilliant unbeaten 128 for the visiting side, as they compiled a total of 236 from their 40 overs, with Josh Little (26) and Aaron O’Neill (23 not out) both supporting Gupta well.

Four early wickets for Aaron Cawley (4-14) put a huge amount of pressure on the Bready middle order, and they were never able to keep up with the rate as wickets fell regularly. Jason Dunn opened and top scored with 34 before he too was out to Patrick Guest (2-20), Bready eventually all out for 101 in 25 overs, giving Pembroke a 135-run victory and the U15 All-Ireland title.
