Clontarf opening batsman Bill Coghlan returns to the Leinster Lightning side, while the Warriors call on Jarred Barnes for their Newstalk Inter-Provincial match at Malahide beginning on Tuesday
29-year-old Coghlan has been in impressive form for Clontarf since his last Inter-Provincial outing, Lighning’s four-wicket win over the Warriors in Bready in May. During that period he has amassed 412 runs in eight innings at an average of 68.67, including an epic match-winning 157 not out in Clontarf’s 9-wicket victory away at Fox Lodge in the Irish Senior Cup.
Meanwhile, the North West Warriors selectors have named their side the three-day clash at Malahide. The side sees four changes to the side which lost out to the Knights at Stormont earlier this month; David Barr, Niall McDonnell, Tabish Khan and William McClintock all drop out of the squad and are replaced by Eglinton’s Stuart Thompson, Bready’s David Rankin, Jason Milligan of Fox Lodge and there’s a first appearance in a Warriors squad for Coleraine seamer Jarred Barnes, who comes in as one of the two permitted overseas players.
The Warrior’s are still searching for their first win of the season, but pushed the Lightning all the way in the first Inter-Provincial 50 over encounter at The Hills and coach Bobby Rao will no doubt be confident of another strong performance away from home.
