ABU DHABI, UAE – Ireland Wolves have qualified for the final of their 50-over tri-series ahead of Afghanistan A due to superior net run rate.
In a tightly fought One-Day match tri-series also featuring Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A, Ireland Wolves managed to finish just ahead of Afghanistan on superior net run rate which was significantly boosted by a comprehensive six wicket win against them on Monday.
Afghanistan A’s loss today to Sri Lanka A by just four wickets meant both Ireland and Afghanistan finished with one win each from four games. However net run rate then became the deciding factor for who would eventually play Sri Lanka A in the final.
In anticipation of this scenario, Ireland Wolves made sure to win their final game on Monday by a significant margin to give their own net run rate a sufficient boost in the tournament table.
Ireland Wolves play Sri Lanka A on Friday, 25 April, at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi with the match set to start at 7am (Ireland time). The match will be streamed.
