The Under-19s Men’s Celtic Cup is back – and this year it is Ireland’s time to host.

Pete Johnston, High Performance Coach & Emerging Player Development Lead for Cricket Ireland, said:

“The U19 Celtic Cup series with Scotland will no doubt be very competitive and will be another valuable experience for our players to embrace and develop the way we want to play as a team.  It is also great that we can play at excellent venues like Lisburn and North Down cricket clubs.

“We are very pleased with the progress of our squad and off the back of some strong club, school and provincial youth performances Brian Dunphy, Bruce Whaley and Luke Murray come into the squad.  For those not selected, there are a lot more opportunities of cricket which we will be tracking closely ahead of selection of a Winter Squad prior to departing for the World Cup in late December.

“We have decided not to select our most experienced player Reuben Wilson on this occasion as we believe he will benefit from continuing to develop his red ball skills within the Future Series for the Leinster Bolts.  Reuben remains a key member of the squad pushing towards the World Cup.”
