OAKHILL – With lovely weather for the opening day of the 2025 Super Series season, the Typhoons put in a comprehensive performance that saw them kick off their campaign with a win.
Glorious, sunny conditions at Oakhill Cricket Club in Wicklow saw the Dragons opt to bat first against the Typhoons in the opening game of the 2025 Evoke Super 50 Cup.
Overseas player Bella Armstrong led the way for the Dragons with a brisk 54 off 35 until she was dismissed by Julie McNally in the 12th over.
Regular wickets continued to stall the batting side’s progress, but it was contributions from Abbi Harrison, Sarah Black and stand in captain Cara Murray that looked to keep the Dragons in the hunt.
However the batting side were eventually restricted to 206 all out thanks to a four wicket haul from Leah Paul.
An early wicket for Jennifer Jackson was exactly what the Dragons needed but a partnership of 79 between Sarah Forbes and Rebecca Stokell brought the Typhoons back into the chase.
The Dragons continued to take wickets however the chasing side made sure not to lose their momentum.
Leah Paul in particular put her hand up with the bat scoring 48 off 53 balls, while captain Jane Maguire also played her part with 21 off 25.
Maguire, who was captaining in the Super Series for the very first time will be immensely happy to kick things off with a win.
