Super Tuesday wins for Warriors and Lightning

Back

Oak Hill & Stormont – North West Warriors took the first IP20 win against Munster Reds then Leinster Lightning managed the same against Northern Knights.

Super Tuesday began in Wicklow with Munster Reds winning the toss and bowling first but finding it hard to make an impact.

The first rain delay would intervene in their favour as the break in action jinxed Northern Knights hitting. A second then halted the innings completely.

Facing a cut off to mirror conditions in the later Stormont game, Reds were given 53 to chase off 30 which looked favourable but savvy McBrine captaincy saw the result swing his way.

Onto Stormont where Leinster Lightning won the toss and elected to bat where an impressive debut knock from Monil Patel helped them to a healthy total even with appreciable turn from Humphries and Robertson.

At various points in the chase, the Knights looked to have lots going their way but spin continued to cause trouble.

A fascinating contest left 11 to win off the last over which Lightning skipper Sam Harbinson defended by just a single run, the barest of margins, on a sun kissed evening.
