Who’s where?

Plenty of our female  internationals are wintering in the southern hemisphere. Club cricket begins a little bit sooner in Australia than in New Zealand, so we have scores to report from players in Australia over the past few weeks while those based in New Zealand will start their competitive cricket in November.

The updates below relate to the last week. For previous week’s updates, go to the Archive page.

Week commencing 28 October 2024

Cara Murray

Playing for wynnum manly district cc

Cara Murray took 2-23 from her four overs in a losing cause for Wynnum Manly against Gold Coast. The visitors posted 124-8 which proved just beyond Murray’s side who fell seven runs short, despite losing only five wickets.

Gaby Lewis

Playing for dandenong cc

Gaby Lewis’ Dandenong CC posted 201 all-out against Ringwood in their one-day tie. Lewis was run-out was just 1 (1) but her side won by 59 runs despite this.

Orla Prendergast

Playing for Adelaide Strikers

The Adelaide Strikers have had a busy week, Orla Prendergast taking to the field three times since last weekend, with her team winning just one of the two. Prendergasts best performance with the ball was in a losing cause when she took 3-35 from her four overs. Her best performance with the bat helped the Strikers to win their second match of the competition when they beat The Sixers by 11 runs. Her 39 (31) in the middle order for the team in blue proved pivotal to get some points on the board.

Rebecca Stokell

Playing for kensington cc

In Adelaide, Rebecca Stokell’s Kensington CC won a tight affair in Round 4 of the Kookaburra Women’s 1st Grade. Chasing 166, Kensington did the job with three wickets in hand. Stokell only contributed one run to the chase.

And also…

Jane Maguire has arrived in Sydney and will be lining up for Penrith CC in the coming weeks. Across the Tasman Sea, Leah Paul and Arlene Kelly will be competing against each other in the Auckland cricket structure – Kelly for Howick CC and Paul for Takapuna CC.
