Scorchers beat Typhoons in Railway Union

On a very wet day, Scorchers made best use of the conditions in a dominant display at Park Avenue.

The day began with Typhoons electing to bat. However they possibly regretted the decision after rain delayed the start immediately after.

When play eventually began, the game had been reduced to 37 overs per innings. The batting side also had to negotiate different conditions.

Sarah Forbes however did her best to acclimatise to the new challenge, scoring 35 from 63 balls and helping the Typhoons post 138 from their 37. But was this par with the new conditions?

The start of the Scorchers chase gave us the first sighting of the return of batter Una Raymond-Hoey who has travelled back from Australia to play in the Irish season.

Raymond-Hoey unfortunately was dismissed early on. However Gaby Lewis and Alice Tector were able to size up the conditions quickly and get to work on the total.

Alice Tector batted particular well but fell for 46 off 73 just falling short of the half century before reaching the total.

Won by 8 wickets.
