CORK – With Leinster Lightning sitting way ahead on the top of the IP20 table, Northern Knights looked to make a statement in the first match of this Inter-Provincial double-header.

Upon winning the toss, the visitors opted to bowl first. They removed Brandon Kruger early but had difficulty keeping Mark Andrianatos quiet.

Adrianatos eventually fell for 48 off 38. However Curtis Campher, Liam McCarthy and David Delany all worked hard to keep up the rate.

The continual fall of wickets made sure Knights always stayed in the game. But they would still have to chase down 153.

In reply, Paul Stirling and Ross Adair made a statement scoring 50 in only four overs. Curtis Campher, a player always known to get a wicket from somewhere, removed Stirling but the damage was done.

Adair continued his work, aided now by James McCollum who finished 58 from 35. Cade Carmichael also stayed with the tempo when Irish Senior Cup hero Ben White took an early wicket.

Leinster Lightning remain way ahead at the top of the IP20 table, but Northern Knights will have turned a few heads with this batting performance.
