The ICC have confirmed that Cricket Ireland Chairman ‎Ross McCollum has been appointed to the ICC Council, replacing the outgoing Neil Speight of the Bermuda Cricket Board.

McCollum said of his appointment, “It is a great honour to be elected to represent the world wide Associate and Affiliate countries at the Board of the ICC.

“I believe these are very exciting times for the wider cricketing family and hope I can assist in bringing some very important cricketing proposals to fruition.”

The appointment was made at the ICC Full Council meeting held in Edinburgh this week. McCollum will be the only new face representing Associate and Affiliate members after Imran Khawaja of Singapore and Francois Erasmus of Namibia were both re-elected for another two year period.

McCollum has been Chairman of the Executive Board at Cricket Ireland since 2012, with the Belfast born former Ireland international playing a pivotal role in the progress of Irish cricket over recent years.

As part of the same conference Jim Benentt was presented with his Lifetime Service Award by the ICC after his many years of service to the game in Ireland were recognised by the games highest authority.
