Lisburn, Northern Ireland – The Dragons completed victory over the Scorchers by 274 runs, their highest ever margin in the competition, to top the table in the Evoke Super 50 Cup in their final game.

The day began with Scorchers’ captain Christina Coulter Reilly winning the toss and opting to bowl first with slight overcast conditions overhead at Wallace Park.

Early on the Dragons found themselves in trouble at 65-3 in the thirteenth over with Louise Little and Sophie MacMahon the key threats with the ball.

Dragons’ captain Amy Hunter with the help of Arlene Kelly then consolidated matters with a remarkable partnership of 172 runs in which they managed to score at almost a run a ball without the need to take many risks.

From Hunter in particular however, a key aspect of the performance was the way in which the batter slowly increased the rate of scoring and pressure on the bowling side.

The batting side eventually posted 346-6, their highest ever total in the competition, largely built on Amy Hunter’s 155 off 111 balls. The century was Hunter’s fourth ever and second in this year’s edition. It was also the sixth century scored in the 2025 Evoke Super 50 Cup – the most ever in a season of the competition with one game remaining.

The Scorchers needed to start well if they were to contemplate chasing down such a high total, but were soon 14-3 in the fifth over with Orla Prendergast the lone destroyer and Gaby Lewis back in the hut. Things however did not improve as the chasing side were soon 15-4 and the 20-5 in the ninth over.

Left-arm-swing bowler Jennifer Jackson also proved threatening as she found late in-swing to the right hand batter to combine with her excellent accuracy.

The dismissals of Eimear Richardson and Sophie MacMahon proved important as the Dragons refused to let the Scorchers rebuild at any point and showed a ruthlessness deserving of winning the Evoke Super 50 Cup as the home side eventually won by 274 runs – their highest ever margin of victory in the competition.

Orla Prendergast eventually finished with the unique figures of five wickets for just four runs including one maiden – her first ever five-wicket haul in List A cricket.
