George came on the scene as a talented teenager, bowling slow left-arm spin. He was a mainstay in the Ireland team from his debut in 2010 and played county cricket at Somerset. In recent years he is better known for his batting in the middle order where he often plays the role of finisher.

At the end of his county contract with Somerset, George returned to Ireland to focus on his international career. He found himself out of the team and out of a contract in 2019, and so he set his sights on transforming into a hard hitting batting all-rounder and has cemented his place in the Ireland team again.

One of few players in the set up who can boast a strike-rate over 150, he is a powerful asset to the batting middle order.

He cites beating England in the 2011 Cricket World Cup as one of his greatest moments in an Irish jersey.
